A peace sign should feel simple.
Ours doesn’t.
The emblem begins with a familiar symbol,
then twists it into tension.
A hand holds the sign in place.
The rope keeps it alive,
but also keeps it unresolved.
It stands for the contradiction at the heart of PIOT:
the world speaks about peace,
while violence, hunger and injustice
keep speaking louder.
Peace, if it means anything,
has to confront reality.
They call it PEACE.
We see the contradiction.
PIOT is built around a simple discomfort:
the language of peace is everywhere,
yet the evidence of violence is still with us.
CLEAN keeps the outside quiet.
The message lives inside.
